New feature

Treasure hunting: dig up finds and craft them into rares

Follow a metal detector's signal round the venues and open rooms, dig up buried finds and turn them into rares at the Workshop.

What's new

There is treasure buried all over FreeWorlds. Pick up a Metal Detector and a Treasure Shovel, follow the beeps and dig. Most of what comes up is old junk with a story to it, like a Rusty Old Key or a Muddy Old Bottle, but every now and then you hit something special: a Rough Diamond, a Buried Golden Scarab or a Sunken Treasure Chest.

Finds are hidden at FreeWorlds' own venues and in members' rooms that are open to everyone, and the bigger the place, the more there is. Every 20 minutes they move somewhere new, and once somebody digs one up it is gone for everybody until the next move. So it pays to be quick.

Then take your finds to the Workshop and turn them into rares from MatchFlow's vault: furniture that nobody can buy in the Shop. The recipes change every day.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Get your toolsOpen the Shop and look under New In, or Fun and then Make & Grow. The Metal Detector costs 1,200 gold and the Treasure Shovel 600 gold. You only ever need one of each.
  2. Follow the signalHold the detector and a meter appears at the bottom of the screen. Its five bars fill up and the beeps speed up as you get closer, from Nothing nearby through Getting warmer and Hot! to Dig here!
The treasure meter in FreeWorlds: five signal bars, the words Dig here and the Dig and Workshop buttons.
The meter when you are right on top of a find.
  3. DigStand still and press Dig. Your avatar swings the shovel and throws up a puff of earth, and whatever was buried there pops up over your head, or a question mark if there was nothing. Everyone in the room sees you dig.

    Up comes a find.
  4. Check your findsEverything you dig up goes to the Finds tab of your Inventory. Keep it, sell it back to MatchFlow, or take it to the Workshop.
  5. Craft a rareOpen the Workshop from the meter, from a find in your Inventory, or at the Treasure Workshop counter in Bloom Park. Today's recipes show what each rare needs and its fee.

Good to know

  • You can dig every 4 seconds, and keep up to 15 finds an hour and 40 a day.
  • Each place only gives you a share of its finds each day, so keep moving.
  • There is nothing buried in your own spaces or in private rooms.
  • You can craft one rare a day. Cheaper recipes turn spare finds into rarer ones.
  • Digging and crafting earn Explorer skill XP.
