Who Can Come In: Privacy for Your Space
Your space has a door, and you decide who comes through it. This guide covers the four access levels, giving friends a role, booting or banning someone, what shows up in Spaces, and keeping your location to yourself.

Who can come in
Open your space's settings from the gear at the top right (only the owner sees it) and choose Security. Under Access are four levels:
| Access | Who may come in |
|---|---|
| Open | Anyone, except people you ban or boot. |
| Members only | You, everyone you give a role in the space (members, contributors and officers), and guests you invite. |
| Contributors only | You, your contributors and officers, and guests you invite. |
| Private | Only you and guests you invite. |
A new home starts Open. When you save a stricter level, anyone already inside whom it leaves out has to go. MatchFlow's staff can always come in, so they can help if something goes wrong.
Inviting someone into a private space: an invite from you opens the door for that guest for 12 hours, whatever the access level. A ban still keeps them out.
Roles: members, contributors and officers
The Members tab is where you give people a role in your space. Type a friend's name and press Add to make them a member, then pick a role and press Update:
- Member: can come in when the space is Members only.
- Contributor: can also decorate with their own furniture, which stays theirs.
- Officer: can also move or remove anyone's pieces and manage memberships (except other officers'). Only you can make someone an officer.
Each piece of furniture has its own SECURITY too, under EDIT: who may move it and who may use it, from Only me to Everyone in this space.
Boot and ban
If someone spoils the fun, click their avatar:
- BOOT sends them out of your space for 5 minutes.
- BAN keeps them out until you lift it, on the Bans tab with Unban. A ban also takes away any role they had.
Only the space's owner (and MatchFlow's staff) can boot or ban.
Blocking someone everywhere
A block is bigger than a ban. Block someone from their avatar's menu and they won't see you anywhere on MatchFlow or in World, and you won't see them: not in a room, not in chat. Your space shows to them as private.
What other people can see
- Your home is never for sale and never on the For Sale list.
- An open space with people in it can show up under Popular, and your friends can find your open home in Search.
- Untick Show in the Spaces panel on the Security tab and your space disappears from every list except your own My Spaces.
- In Me, My Privacy, Online status and location decides who sees whether you're online and where: Friends Only (the default), Everyone or Nobody.
FreeWorlds' public pages never list members' homes or say who is in a place. Only FreeWorlds' own venues have pages.
